Distribution: Restricted to the Big Island. Map: — Ko‘olau is the common name for about 19 species of this daisy that are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. It has been used medicinally by Hawaiians and can be made into an herbal tea. The species pictured is found in open shrubland and old lava flows only on the Big Island in three disjunct areas: Kohala, Puna, and Kilauea. |
