Adi Lanieta Sokula Tuifagalele
Adi Lanieta Sokula Tuifagalele, known to her friends and colleagues simply as
Kula, is a cheerful addition the parataxonomist crew in the
entomology laboratory. Although born in Suva, her grandparents
came from the islands of Vanua Levu and Lau. Now she lives
a short walk from the lab with her husband, Seta and his family.
After finishing at Lakasi High Secondary School, Kula began
work at the Chase Knitting Cotton factory where she met Seta.
In February, 2005, Kula started work as a parataxonomist.
Her natural curiosity and happy nature make her a keen
insect sorter
and a good person to work with. The first day she looked
into the microscope she said that her life was changed,
that she
never knew how diverse insects could be, and that she was
going to go home and tell all her family and friends about
her new
discoveries! Perhaps a taxonomist by nature, Kula admits
that her favorite aspect to working with insects is learning
their
names.
When Kula isn’t in the lab, she can be found pursuing a wide
variety of other interests, including reading, watching
movies, making new friends, swimming, and cooking. If you
come to
Fiji, make sure you get a chance to taste her fresh baked
pies!
